Hipstamatic camera app is available for free !!!

By Sateesh on September 25, 2015

Hipstamatic, the app that made square iPhone photos with retro film filters a thing before Instagram, has a major update out just in time for iPhone 6S launch day. Version 300 works at full resolution with the 6S’ new 12-megapixel camera, and the interface also supports 3D touch — for example you can press lightly on a thumbnail to “peek” at the image, or press harder to “pop” into the editing mode. There are also various shortcuts accessible from the home screen icon.

The shooting experience itself has also undergone a serious overhaul. Prior versions of Hipstamatic went to great lengths to replicate old film cameras; you had to swipe through your virtual lens collection, choose a virtual film, and shoot through a pokey virtual viewfinder. You can still do all of that in 300, but there’s a new “Pro” mode that makes it work pretty much like any enthusiast camera app — it lets you adjust focus, exposure, white balance, ISO, and shutter speed, and there’s an editing suite to complement your collection of virtual gear. And yes, you can now choose your aspect ratio as well, weeks after Instagram threw off its own square-shaped shackles.

Hipstamatic 300 is out now in the App Store, and it’s free for a limited time.
